Benjamin Josses Odoki (born 23 March 1943) was the Chief Justice of Uganda from 2001 to 2013.〔(Justices of The Supreme Court of Uganda )〕 He was born in Dhaka, Busia district, in east Uganda and was educated at King's College, Budo and at the University College, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1969. 〔 (【引用サイトリンク】title=Odoki’s long journey to retirement ) 〕 In 1969 he became an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and was appointed a State Attorney in 1970 and Senior State Attorney a few years later. In 1978 he was made a Judge of the High Court of Uganda but from 1981 to 1984 was seconded to serve as Director of Public Prosecutions. In 1986 he was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court and in 2001 became Chief Justice of Uganda until his mandatory retirement at the age of 70 on March 23, 2013.
